Role Overview

The Managing Director – Logistics Business will be responsible for leading, optimizing, and scaling the company’s logistics operations, including services for 3PL operators, ensuring seamless integration with distribution partners and supply chain networks. The ideal candidate will be a data-driven leader who leverages analytics, automation, and technology to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and drive strategic growth.

This role demands a highly analytical mindset, combining logistics expertise with strong financial and business acumen to make informed, performance-driven decisions. The Managing Director will lead a high-performing team, build key partnerships, and ensure that logistics operations are aligned with the company’s growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Business Growth

• Define and execute the long-term strategic vision for the logistics business.
• Develop data-driven logistics models to optimize efficiency, scalability, and profitability.
• Identify and pursue growth opportunities, including new market entry and expansion of services for the Company and 3PL operators.
• Ensure the logistics business aligns with the overall distribution and supply chain strategy.

2. Data-Driven Logistics & Operational Excellence

• Implement advanced analytics to enhance forecasting, routing, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Develop KPI dashboards to monitor performance, cost efficiency, and service levels in real-time.
• Leverage AI, IoT, and automation tools to improve operational processes.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving efficiency across the logistics value chain.

3. Supply Chain & Distribution Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with distribution partners, carriers, and suppliers.
• Optimize last-mile delivery, warehousing, and transportation networks to reduce costs and improve delivery times.
• Ensure seamless integration of logistics with the company’s, own retail stores, e-commerce and distribution channels.
• Manage risk mitigation strategies, including supply chain disruptions and contingency planning.

4. Financial & Performance Management

• Own and manage the P&L of the logistics business, driving revenue growth and cost efficiency.
• Use data analytics and financial modelling to enhance profitability and pricing strategies.
• Ensure budget control, cost reduction, and operational efficiency through data-driven decisions.
• Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.

5. People Leadership & Organizational Development

• Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team, promoting a data-driven decision-making culture.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent in logistics, supply chain, and data analytics.
• Foster a performance-oriented culture focused on efficiency, innovation, and accountability.

6. Compliance, Safety & Sustainability

• Ensure compliance with international and regional logistics regulations.
• Implement sustainable logistics practices, reducing the carbon footprint of operations.
• Uphold high safety and quality standards across transportation, warehousing, and fleet management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 10+ years of leadership experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
• Strong analytical skills and experience in data-driven logistics operations.
• Proven ability to use big data, AI, and automation to optimize supply chain efficiency.
• Expertise in financial management, P&L oversight, and cost optimization.
• Experience working with distribution networks, 3PL, freight forwarding, and warehousing solutions, including customs and excise tax warehouses.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills with logistics partners and suppliers.
• Knowledge of ERP, WMS, and logistics management software.
• Ability to lead large, cross-functional teams across multiple locations.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Six Sigma, Lean Logistics, or APICS certification is a plus.
• Experience in technology-driven logistics transformations.
• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks in international logistics.
