Do you have experience in team leadership and backend development in the AWS ecosystem? Would you like to lead a cloud and backend team in a growing, innovative company with a tangible impact on consumer cybersecurity? We’re expanding our technical capabilities and are now looking for a:

Team Lead / Cloud and Backend Developer

You’ll lead our agile Total backend team of six people—including yourself—while also contributing part-time to hands-on development. Your leadership spans both agile team coordination and people management, and your technical contribution will support the team’s ongoing evolution and delivery.

Your experience is reflected in the quality and pace of your work, your ability to evaluate solutions based on context, and your strength in guiding individuals and teams toward shared goals and continuous growth.

About The Total Backend Team

Our team maintains, builds, and enhances a collection of Total backends. We make extensive use of AWS and operate with a DevSecOps/SRE mindset—employing CI/CD, IaC, self-healing, elasticity, and other advanced practices. How often do you get the chance to build large-scale backend systems that truly make a difference in securing digital moments for millions of people?

We’re responsible for large-scale systems serving billions of requests daily, backed by a robust metadata analysis system. We strive for technical excellence, balancing maintainability, performance, reliability, and cost in ways that bring value to our users and support the business.

Our team follows Agile/Lean practices to manage our roadmap, backlog, and work in progress.

We’re based in Helsinki, Finland, with flexibility to work remotely or on-site. Remote team members are expected to join us in the office for co-working days at least once every two weeks.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Visualize, estimate, prioritize, and plan team work in collaboration with stakeholders
• Maintain and evolve agile and technical practices, supporting the team and individuals in their growth toward technical excellence
• Foster an inclusive, open, and supportive team environment where everyone’s ideas are welcomed and appreciated
• Handle people management responsibilities for the team

Cloud and Backend Development (part-time)

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and monitor backend systems on AWS infrastructure
• Build CI/CD pipelines and automated production monitoring
• Handle support queries from other teams
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, evaluate their potential, and integrate them into our systems
• Exact responsibilities will flex based on your leadership workload, your interests, and the team’s needs

What are we looking for?

• Experience in team leadership and people management
• Solid understanding of Agile software development
• Hands-on experience in cloud and backend development, including:
• AWS services
• Python and Bash
• Linux environments
• CI/CD tools
• Ability to assess alternative approaches based on user value, business needs, and technical feasibility
• A collaborative mindset—you communicate effectively and approach your work with curiosity and initiative
