Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Cybersecurity (Medical Devices)

We’re seeking a Senior Embedded Cybersecurity Engineer to help design and implement advanced security solutions for our client's next-generation medical devices. Based in Dublin, this hybrid role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical technology that protects patients and complies with the highest industry and regulatory standards.
You’ll work across the embedded stack—from secure boot to real-time OS and Linux—collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop systems that are not only innovative but safe and secure by design.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the development of cybersecurity architecture for embedded medical devices
- Conduct threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and define risk mitigation strategies
- Design and implement secure firmware, bootloaders, and communication protocols
- Define and run penetration testing, secure code reviews, and cybersecurity validation plans
- Ensure compliance with medical device cybersecurity standards and global regulations
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and regulatory teams to integrate security across the development lifecycle
Your Background:
- 8+ years of experience in embedded systems and cybersecurity
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Certifications such as CISSP, HCISSP, CEH, or CISM
- Strong skills in C/C++, secure software design, and embedded Linux/RTOS
- Familiarity with embedded networking, secure boot, memory protection, and threat modeling tools
- Excellent communication skills for working in cross-functional, high-compliance environments
Bonus Points:
- 10+ years in secure embedded software development
- Experience with medical device standards (e.g. ISO 13485, IEC 62304, FDA 21 CFR Part 820)
- Background in cloud-connected devices and secure OTA architecture
- Knowledge of penetration testing tools, static analysis, and firmware security practices
- Proven ability to mentor and lead security best practices within agile development teams
