Experience Range- 8+ years

Position Purpose

Assist with design, implementation and maintenance of high availability multisite networks that support customer enterprise environment.

Provide advanced technical support and advice to IS staff and other key stakeholders as necessary.

Key Competences

• Technical – The candidate must demonstrate an in-depth understanding of IP networking including routing, switching and addressing concepts. Must have operational and deployment experience of firewalls and have been exposed to VPNs on those platforms. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience of Palo Alto firewalls. Also should have experience on Wireless, 802.1x & WAN optimizers.
• Critical Thinking – Candidates must demonstrate the ability to learn quickly, be able to solve problems independently, make well thought-out recommendations.
• Security Standards – Must be a proponent of a monitored environment, promote adherence to processes and standards encompassing data and infrastructure security. They must be comfortable working within a change management system and demonstrate a proactive approach to life cycle management.
• Teamwork – Must promote a collaborative environment within and across IT teams.
• Communications Skills – Must be effective with oral and written communication and be able to present complex technical concepts in an informative way to non-technical staff. They must be prepared to produce business presentable documentation for all change and project related work as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of duties on network devices including install, debug, maintain, upgrade and general support
• Architect and support WAN connectivity to remote sites
• Research, evaluate and recommend network technologies to support business requirements. Evaluate, test and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the network equipment.
• Design, implement and troubleshoot the below

- BGP

- OSPF

- EIGRP

- Spanning Tree

- Cisco Wireless

- 802.1x

- Firewalls (Palo Alto & Cisco)

- WAN Optimizers (Riverbed)

• Develop, implement, test and maintain disaster recovery plans
• Act as a technical escalation point to assist with resolving incidents and tasks as required
• Ability to manage multi-tasking network project
• Produce high and low-level designs including implementation and test plans
• Produce network Visio diagrams
• Work closely with other internal teams for project delivery
• Ability to work with third parties and other teams to schedule and implement change
• Collaborate with team members in the production of network design
• Collect and review system data for capacity planning purposes
• Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance
• Maintain and up-to-date knowledge of emerging network tools and technologies
• Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures
• Perform other duties as required by the Team Leader, Network Systems to meet requirements
