About Your Future Role

As a Payment & Technical Leader, you will oversee the development, integration, and management of payment gateway systems for a leading e-commerce platform. This role requires deep technical expertise in payment processing, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance, coupled with strong leadership and project management skills. You will be responsible for architecting scalable and secure payment infrastructures, optimizing transaction performance, and ensuring seamless integration with third-party payment providers.

Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams to implement payment solutions, managing API development, and ensuring adherence to industry standards such as PCI-DSS and PSD2. You will work closely with business stakeholders and external vendors to drive innovation, reduce transaction failures, and enhance customer satisfaction by introducing new payment methods and optimizing existing ones. The role also requires staying updated on emerging payment technologies and continuously improving payment systems to support business growth and maintain high uptime reliability.

A successful candidate will have a strong background in both fintech and e-commerce environments, experience with global payment platforms, and the ability to drive complex projects to completion while balancing security, compliance, and use

Your key responsibilities in this role will be:

• Payment Gateway Integration: Lead the integration of major payment gateways (PayPal, Stripe, Braintree, Adyen) into e-commerce platforms, ensuring seamless transaction flows and optimizing payment acceptance rates across multiple currencies and regions.
• Technical Architecture Design: Architect scalable and secure payment systems utilizing cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), microservices, and containerization. Ensure high availability, low latency, and robust disaster recovery strategies to maintain 99.99% uptime.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor cross-functional technical teams, fostering collaboration across developers, QA, and DevOps. Oversee team development, task assignment, and project delivery to meet business timelines and quality standards.
• Fraud Detection & Risk Management: Implement advanced fraud prevention measures such as 3D Secure, PCI-DSS compliance, tokenization, and machine learning-based fraud detection algorithms. Reduce fraud and chargebacks while improving customer trust.
• API Development & Integration: Lead the development and management of APIs for payment processing, ensuring smooth integration with third-party services and internal systems. Optimize API performance and security for high-volume transactions.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to global regulatory standards such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, and PSD2. Oversee audits and implement security protocols to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
• Project Management: Oversee multiple concurrent payment-related projects, from requirement gathering to deployment. Utilize Agile/Scrum methodologies to ensure timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
• Continuous Optimization: Analyze payment system performance metrics and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement. Implement enhancements that reduce transaction failures, improve processing speed, and increase overall efficiency.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison with payment vendors, ensuring SLAs are met and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, operations, and customer service, to align payment strategies with business needs.
• Innovation in Payment Solutions: Stay up-to-date with the latest payment technologies and trends, such as cryptocurrency, mobile wallets, and BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) solutions. Explore and implement new payment methods to enhance customer satisfaction and expand payment options.

Qualifications needed to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Payment Gateway Integration: Proven hands-on experience integrating payment systems such as PayPal, Stripe, Braintree, Adyen, and others into e-commerce or digital platforms.
• Strong Programming Skills: Proficiency in languages commonly used for payment systems and API development, such as Java, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or C#.
• API Development & Integration: Expertise in designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs for payment processing, ensuring security and performance.
• Cloud Platforms: Experience working with cloud services, particularly AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud for building scalable and resilient payment infrastructures.
• Security and Compliance: In-depth knowledge of PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), GDPR, PSD2, and encryption protocols like TLS and tokenization to ensure secure transaction processing.
• Database Management: Familiarity with relational databases like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB for managing payment data and transaction records.
• Microservices Architecture: Understanding of microservices and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to manage distributed payment services.
• Experience in Fraud Prevention: Knowledge of fraud detection tools and algorithms, such as 3D Secure, machine learning models for fraud detection, or risk management systems.
• Project Management Skills: Proven experience managing technical teams and payment-related projects, preferably using Agile or Scrum methodologies. PMP or Scrum Master certification is an advantage.
• Version Control & DevOps: Proficiency in using version control systems like Git, and experience with DevOps practices for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) in payment environments.
