Embedded Software Engineer – Medical Devices & Compliance

We are hiring on behalf of our clients for a Embedded Software Engineer to join a hybrid role based in Dublin, Ireland. This position supports the development of next-generation medical technologies, with a focus on designing robust and reliable embedded systems that comply with strict regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will have proven, hands-on experience in safety-critical software development and a strong understanding of medical compliance frameworks.
What You’ll Do
• Design and develop embedded software for regulated medical devices in line with safety and reliability standards
• Collaborate with QA and regulatory teams to implement test protocols, documentation, and validation strategies
• Ensure full compliance with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and FDA guidelines across the software lifecycle
• Contribute to risk assessment, hazard analysis, and software risk mitigation plans
• Support system integration, version control, and continuous improvement processes
• Maintain traceability matrices, software design history files (DHF), and quality documentation
Your Background
• Degree in Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline
• 3+ years of experience in embedded software development, ideally within regulated industries
• Proficient in C/C++ and familiar with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
• Solid understanding of medical software regulations: IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and automated testing frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience in Class II/III medical device development
• Familiarity with unit testing, static code analysis, and continuous integration pipelines
• Understanding of cybersecurity requirements in medical systems
• Certification in software quality or regulatory affairs is a plus
