Job title: Network Engineer

Location: Hybrid (Primary Site: Bethesda, MD Secondary Site: Rockville, MD)
Work Hours:
Core Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET
Support Coverage: Must be available for 24/7 performance monitoring and incident response to meet required service level agreements (SLAs).
Job Description
The Network Engineer will be responsible for managing and supporting two mission-critical 1G Ethernet circuits, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity between designated agency locations. This role involves continuous performance monitoring, rapid incident response, and coordination with internal teams to maintain network reliability, security, and compliance with federal IT standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and support existing Ethernet circuits across two federal facilities.
- Monitor network performance and ensure 99.9% circuit uptime.
- Detect and resolve faults and service interruptions in alignment with SLAs.
- Integrate network connectivity with both cloud-based and on-premise infrastructures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal standards including FISMA and TIC 3.0.
- Utilize approved systems for incident tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal technical teams and participate in routine security and compliance reviews.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in managing enterprise or government Ethernet networks.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, performance tools, and incident management systems.
- Familiarity with federal IT standards and security frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
- Experience working within federal or regulated environments.
- Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Single Sign-On (SSO) principles.
Security Clearance:
- Must be eligible to undergo and pass a background check as required by federal agencies.
- Must comply with all privacy, security, and access protocols related to handling government data.
