Network Engineer

Scope of Work – Kodiak Island Network Installation Project

Location: Kodiak Island, Alaska (3 Sites in the same locations)

Type of support: Freelance Support

Nationality: US Citizen

Project Overview

The engineer will perform onsite physical installation, cabling, and antenna setup across three facilities (WTP, WWTP, CHP). All configuration and testing will be handled by the customer team.

Step-by-Step Activities

Step 1 – Site Arrival & Preparation

• Report onsite and complete safety/access requirements
• Coordinate with the customer onsite/remote team
• Review site layout and installation plan
• Verify availability of:
• Racks
• Equipment
• Power

Step 2 – De- installation of Existing Equipment

• Carefully remove legacy devices (firewalls, network devices)
• Label all removed equipment
• Pack and stage devices in designated secure area
• Do not dispose of any equipment

Step 3 – Rack Installation & Setup

• Install new 19” racks (where required)
• Mount devices:
• Cradlepoint routers
• UPS units
• Ensure proper alignment, mounting, and labeling

Step 4 – Cable Management & Rack Cleanup

• Organize existing cabling in racks
• Remove unused/loose cables
• Route and secure cables properly
• Label all cables clearly

Step 5 – Cabling Installation (Indoor to Outdoor)

• Run SMA cables from rack to building exterior
• Perform wall pass-through (if required)
• Ensure:
• Proper routing
• Protection and strain relief
• Neat installation

Step 6 – Antenna Installation (Critical Task)

• Install antennas at approx. 30 ft height
• Use lift/cherry picker as required
• Mount antennas securely (roof or wall)
• Ensure:
• Weatherproofing
• Proper cable connection
• Correct alignment

Step 7 – Power-Up & Basic Check

• Connect power to all installed equipment
• Power on devices
• Verify LED status

Step 8 – Coordination with Customer Team

• Inform remote team once installation is complete
• Support if any physical adjustments are required

Step 9 – Final Cleanup

• Ensure racks and work area are clean
• Remove packaging and waste materials
• Confirm proper cable dressing and organization

Step 10 – Documentation & Handover

• Take photos of:
• Installed racks
• Cabling
• Antenna setup
• Provide:
• Installation summary
• Any issues or observations
• Get sign-off from customer/onsite team
