CNetwork Architect Contract
Location: Sydney, Australia
Duration: 5 Months till end of year and then extension for another 6-12months

About the Role
We are seeking experienced Network Architects to join a high-impact program within a leading enterprise client in the telecommunications sector. You will be responsible for the end-to-end design and implementation of network architecture, focusing on IP networking, connectivity, security, and service optimisation. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role ideal for professionals who can operate across design, governance, and strategic engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-level and low-level architectural designs for complex IP network solutions in the telecommunications domain
- Design solutions for connectivity involving routers, switches, firewalls, and other network components
- Lead the implementation and enforcement of network security policies, including firewalls, IDS, and NAC
- Create and maintain network documentation, configurations, procedures, and architectural maps
- Collaborate with solution architects, network designers, and business stakeholders to ensure requirements alignment
- Provide subject matter expertise for major incidents and problem management
- Perform technical reviews of project changes, proposals, and capacity plans
- Contribute to continuous improvement by defining and reviewing best practices and exploring emerging technologies
- Attend CAB meetings, contribute to PIR reviews, and provide input into strategic architecture discussions
Key Deliverables
- Weekly activity summaries and progress updates
- Input for monthly customer reporting: risks, issues, capacity, and achievements
- Strategic updates in monthly architecture meetings
- Recommendations to reduce incidents and enhance availability
- Input into improving service delivery and driving technical excellence
Skills & Experience
- Extensive IP protocol and networking knowledge (routing, switching, security)
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale network architectures
- Solid understanding of network security standards and tools
- Experience with capacity planning, risk assessment, and architectural governance
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field
- Cisco certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, or CCNA) highly desirable
