Deputy Chief Information Officer

Realtime are working closely with a Company in Financial Services who require an experienced and strategic Deputy CIO to support and enhance the technology vision, strategy, and execution. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in financial services or banking, with a proven track record of driving digital transformation, ensuring IT operational excellence, and aligning technology initiatives with business goals.
This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical experience, stakeholder engagement, and team management abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the CIO in developing and delivering the IT strategy across the business
- Lead the execution of technology initiatives that drive business innovation and regulatory compliance
- Oversee IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications
- Partner with business leaders to align IT services with organisational priorities
- Manage IT governance, risk, and compliance in line with financial regulatory requirements
- Mentor and develop IT leadership talent and foster a high-performance culture
- Represent the technology function in senior leadership meetings and external stakeholder engagements
- Bring fresh thinking an ideas to the CIO and look for process improvements
- Reporting daily/weekly to the CIO with updates and necessary changes
Key Skills & Experience Required:
- 10+ years experience in a senior IT leadership role within banking or financial services
- Strong reporting background to a CIO or similar
- Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks
- Strong expertise in IT strategy, enterprise architecture, and digital transformation
- Demonstrable success leading large-scale technology change
- Track record managing teams in multiple locations
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
- Solid knowledge of cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud services, and data governance
- Experience in managing IT budgets, vendor relationships, and service delivery
- Ability to lead under pressure in a complex and regulated environment
- Relevant academic background (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar, or an MBA
- Comfortable working in an environment where change is expected and have a 'sleeves-up' mentality to achieving company goals
