Lead Java Developer – Payments

Location: Helsinki

We are working with a leading financial services organization is seeking a Lead Java Developer to join its Payments Technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the development of new payment services and solutions in a modern, agile environment, working with cutting-edge technology and contributing to high-impact projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Java development work within the Payments technology area
• Contribute to application architecture design and collaborate with solution architects to ensure robust technical solutions
• Guide and support other developers across teams, fostering best practices and high-quality code
• Influence architecture, design decisions, and overall maintainability of payment applications
• Recommend and support the use of the right tools, technologies, and processes to optimize development workflows

About the Role:

You will be part of a cross-border team responsible for consolidating and harmonizing payment data production, storage, and distribution. Working within an agile framework (SAFe), the team focuses on delivering scalable, modern solutions for payment services and their integration into wider payment ecosystems.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of professional Java software development experience
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with:
• Spring Framework & Spring Boot
• Kafka
• SQL
• A front-end framework (preferably React.js)
• Familiarity with architectural patterns such as Domain-Driven Design, Event Sourcing, and Microservices
• Understanding of clean code principles and software security best practices
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools and concepts (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, REST, Maven, JUnit)
• Experience with distributed, high-availability, high-throughput systems
• Fluent English, both written and spoken

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills:

• React.js and TypeScript
• Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Software security best practices
