About The Role

We are seeking a skilled UI/UX Designer to join our growing team remotely, with a primary focus on supporting federal digital modernization initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate closely with developers, product owners, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to craft engaging and accessible user experiences across various digital platforms. Your expertise will ensure that designs meet federal accessibility standards, usability best practices, and align with agency branding guidelines, including the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS). You will play a critical role in translating user research into innovative design solutions, developing wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that serve the public and advance digital government transformation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Web Design, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably within public sector or mission-oriented environments
  • 1+ years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar
  • Understanding of the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS)
  • Strong knowledge of responsive design principles and accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG)
  • Experience collaborating with Agile/Scrum teams
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder due to federal contract requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Reside within the United States, with work performed domestically

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and lead ideation sessions, rapid testing, and concept validation to discover and develop UX solutions
  • Design intuitive user interfaces and workflows based on user research, accessibility best practices, and client requirements
  • Develop wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs to communicate interaction ideas effectively
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into user-centric designs
  • Conduct usability testing, analyze results, and iterate designs to optimize the user experience
  • Work with product leadership to research, understand, and communicate user outcomes
  • Ensure consistency in design across platforms, aligning with agency branding standards and USWDS
  • Advocate for Section 508 compliance and accessibility throughout the design process
  • Support the creation and maintenance of design system components and style guides for scalability
  • Contribute to growth-related activities such as RFI, RFP, prototypes, and oral presentations as needed
