Job Description: Smart Hands Network Engineer

Location: North Charleston, SC

Role Summary

A Smart Hands Technician is required to support a Summer Maintenance initiative involving the inspection, testing, and documentation of IT infrastructure across a school facility. The role focuses on non-invasive support, reporting, and verification tasks to ensure the readiness of network and classroom technology systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform walkthrough audits of all assigned rooms and IT closets
2. Test, label, and document all IT devices using provided templates
3. Conduct UPS inspections including load checks and age verification
4. Connect and verify Wi-Fi access on 26 laptops using provided credentials
5. Walk the facility while streaming video to identify signal weak zones
6. Inspect projector filters, bulbs, and operational health; record all data
7. Check smart board Wi-Fi connection, firmware version, and physical condition
8. Label all printers with required device information
9. Update and upload maintenance logs and checklists
10. Open service tickets for any hardware or connectivity issues found

Required Skills & Experience

1. 3-5 years of IT field support or Smart Hands experience
2. Proficiency with basic networking (IP, MAC, SSID, ping tests)
3. Hands-on experience with IT hardware: laptops, printers, switches, UPS, smart boards
4. Strong documentation skills in Excel or spreadsheet tools
5. Ability to follow technical guides and checklists precisely
6. Must bring a label maker, laptop with console access, and basic hand tools

Preferred Qualifications

1. Familiarity with projector maintenance and UPS systems
2. Experience supporting K–12 or educational institutions
3. Knowledge of firmware updates and wireless network troubleshooting

Working Conditions

1. Fully onsite assignment
2. Must be able to move between rooms and IT closets frequently
3. Some physical interaction with rack-mounted equipment and network gear
4. Must be available during business hours and provide live status updates
