Senior Python NLP Engineer (Machine Learning)

ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Senior Python NLP engineer with a focus on machine learning to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will primarily work on our multilingual document classification system and contribute to the development of new features. An ability to build and scale applications that perform Named Entity Recognition, Summarization and Information Retrieval will also be crucial to the role. This person will be working on a shared code-base so knowledge of Python coding best practices is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Develop our proprietary classification pipeline that supports model downloading, training, inference and active learning.

• Train, benchmark and improve our multilingual and multilabel classification models.

• Develop applications that can perform Named Entity Recognition, Summarization and Information Retrieval using the latest available technology.

• Develop RAG systems to optimize information extraction processes

• Deploy and serve our applications via Docker and FastAPI.

• Collaborate closely with front end engineers and legal staff to ensure client requests are satisfied.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field required (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).

• Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) working with Python, particularly in relation to NLP and AI.

• Proficiency in popular ML frameworks such as PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers, Haystack and LangChain.

• Practical experience in building scalable and robust programs.

• Familiarity with common software engineering practices such as version control, testing, code reviews.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, combined with strong communication and teamwork.

OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS

• Knowledge of JavaScript and SQL is a big advantage.

• Reports to Head of AI Development

• Located preferably in Amsterdam (Netherlands) but willing to be flexible (EU) and can accommodate agile work environments.

• Compensation in the range of €80,000 – €90,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
