WasteHero is on a mission to transform municipal waste management. We are working with five of Finland’s largest waste companies — representing over 2 million citizens — to deliver a modern SaaS platform that sets a new standard for efficiency, transparency, and sustainability.

To succeed, we are strengthening our Finnish technical team with remote senior engineering talent. We are now hiring a Senior Backend Developer (Integrations & Migration) to work from anywhere in Finland and play a key role in integrations, migrations, and delivery support for some of the country’s most ambitious municipal projects.

🚀 What you’ll do

• Enable integrations: Support municipalities and partners building on Frends, Boomi, and ERP systems by ensuring WasteHero’s APIs are robust, reliable, and well-documented.
• Develop common integrations: Help deliver the 10 baseline “Suomi integrations” required across all Finnish waste companies, ensuring monitoring and compliance.
• Build migrations: Develop and run migration scripts (Python, SQL, ETL) to transfer large, complex datasets across multiple systems.
• Ensure quality & compliance: Monitor and troubleshoot integrations/migrations to guarantee performance, accuracy, and GDPR/NIS2 compliance.
• Collaborate cross-border: Work remotely with Finnish project managers and integration specialists, and connect closely with our HQ engineering team in Aarhus, Denmark.

🔧 Skills & stack

• 5+ years’ experience as a Backend Developer (senior-level).
• Strong coding experience with Python/Django (or similar).
• Deep knowledge of APIs, integrations, SQL/PostgreSQL, ETL pipelines.
• Experience with data migration, schema mapping, and validation.
• Familiarity with integration platforms (Frends, Boomi, MuleSoft) is a plus.
• Comfortable delivering in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
