About WasteHero

WasteHero is a Danish technology company delivering intelligent software for municipal waste management. We collaborate with leading Finnish waste companies serving over 2 million citizens, helping them modernize operations, automate data flows, and achieve greater transparency and sustainability.

To strengthen our delivery capacity in Finland, we’re expanding our technical team with two new hires:

• One senior engineer with deep experience in integrations, data migrations, and backend architecture.
• One fullstack developer with solid fundamentals, ready to grow into the same technical domain.

Both roles will work remotely from anywhere in Finland, collaborating closely with our Finnish delivery organization and engineering HQ in Aarhus, Denmark.

The Role

You will help design, build, and maintain the integrations and migration pipelines that connect municipal ERP systems, IoT data, and WasteHero’s SaaS platform.

This is a hands-on role involving backend development, data processing, and collaboration with municipalities and partners across large-scale digitalization projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs (Python/Django or FastAPI).
• Design and implement integrations with ERP, billing, and data platforms (e.g., Frends, Boomi, MuleSoft).
• Develop ETL pipelines and migration scripts (Python/SQL) for complex datasets.
• Create and manage reusable migration templates, mappings, and validation frameworks.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and compliance with GDPR/NIS2 standards.
• Collaborate with delivery managers, integration specialists, and engineers in Finland and Denmark.
• Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement of integration processes.

You Bring

For the Senior Engineer:

• 5+ years of backend experience with Python/Django and API-driven architecture.
• Proven experience with large-scale integrations, data migrations, and ETL pipelines.
• Deep understanding of SQL, data modeling, and system reliability.
• Ability to take ownership and lead technical discussions with external partners.

For the Fullstack Developer:

• 3+ years of professional experience in backend or fullstack roles.
• Good knowledge of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and relational databases.
• Eagerness to learn integrations, migrations, and scalable system design.
• Comfortable working across both frontend and backend when needed.
