Network Engineer - Daily rate contract

My client based in Dublin City Centre are currently seeking a skilled Network Engineer (CCNP R&S certified) to join their team. The role focuses on the administration, maintenance, and support of our core routing and switching environment, with additional responsibilities for basic WLAN and firewall administration. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a networking professional looking to expand their skills across wider infrastructure areas.

This is a daily rate contract for 3 months.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN environments (Cisco routing and switching).
• Support daily network operations including incident resolution, change implementation, and performance monitoring.
• Perform basic WLAN administration (user access, SSID configuration, monitoring connectivity issues).
• Perform basic firewall administration (rule requests, monitoring, basic troubleshooting) across platforms such as Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, or Fortinet.
• Assist in maintaining documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with IT support teams to resolve escalated networking issues.
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and participate in periodic audits and risk reviews.

Qualifications & Experience

• CCNP Routing & Switching (Enterprise) certification (required).
• Solid hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
• Basic knowledge of wireless LAN administration and tools.
• Basic knowledge of firewall administration (rule changes, monitoring logs, user access).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, change, problem management) an advantage.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Desirable Skills

• Exposure to monitoring and network management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG).
• Knowledge of VPNs, NAT, ACLs, and VLANs.
• Willingness to learn and upskill across WLAN and security technologies.
