My client based in Galway are currently on the lookout for a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for configuring, implementing, and maintaining network architecture to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Your duties will include monitoring system performance, perform regular updates, and collaborating with the Global IT Infrastructure Network team to assess, improve, and enhance the existing security posture of IT and OT networks. Additionally, documenting system configurations and procedures will be a key aspect of your role.
This is a daily rate contract
This position is onsite 5 days per week on site.
Responsibilities:
- Working to industry standards and best practices for LAN/WAN/Wireless/Networks, including networked manufacturing and building automation systems.
- Undertake routine preventative measures and implement, maintain, and monitor network security.
- Managing Network Access Control (NAC) solution.
- Work closely with regional and local IT teams and customers.
- Ensure network compliance and effectiveness according to IT/OT network policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Assume and perform other duties as assigned.
Experience required:
- 5-8 years related experience
- You possess strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
- You have proven subject matter expertise as a Network Engineer in network hardware, software configuration, networking technologies, TCP/IP, Cisco (preferred) and/or Extreme (not essential) Routing/Switching/WiFi.
- You have experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques and a deep understanding of ITIL-compliant environments.
- You are familiar with ServiceNow or another IT service management solution.
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- You hold relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective listening skills and the ability to communicate accurately and effectively in person, over the telephone, through email and other business correspondence.
