Android Platform Developer (m/f/d)

I am currently looking for an experienced Android Platform Developer (m/f/d) for my client who specializes in working deeply with the Android framework, operating system, and its architecture. This is not about classic app development, but rather about low-level system work - from kernel modifications to the integration of new hardware platforms.

Our client is a modern, family-run technology company based in Vienna, successfully operating in the market for over 35 years. The company develops smart end-to-end solutions across hardware, software, and production. Their focus lies on secure, certified systems and intelligent devices for demanding applications - especially in the fields of mobility and industrial automation.

• Technical implementation and integration of the Android framework on new hardware platforms and device variants
• Analysis of the Android boot process and optimization of system performance and stability
• Configuration and compilation of Android systems (AOSP), ideally also for automotive applications (AAOS)
• Customization of Android-based systems for embedded applications
• Development of system-level functions and services tailored to specific device requirements
• Identification and resolution of issues between hardware and the Android framework
• Evaluation of customer technical requirements and translation into concrete solutions
• Creation of technical documentation and test concepts for quality assurance
  
  

• Minimum of three years of professional experience focusing on Android systems and frameworks
• Solid knowledge of Linux in embedded environments, especially kernel-level work
• Deep understanding of the structure and dependencies of the Android operating system
• Experience in customizing kernel components, U-Boot, and device trees
• Familiarity with the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), ideally also with AAOS
• Practical understanding of the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL)
• Structured, solution-oriented work style with a high level of self-responsibility
• Knowledge of Android app development is a plus but not required
• Fluent in English with good German skills and a strong team spirit
