About The Role

We are seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic team at Auria Space. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of our suite of gamified trainers and other software solutions aimed at enhancing warfighter readiness. The ideal candidate will possess a broad skill set across various UX disciplines, including user research, interface design, and usability testing. You will be responsible for creating modern, responsive, and secure user interfaces for web and desktop applications within a DoD environment. The position allows for remote work, with a preference for candidates located in Colorado Springs, CO, supporting a hybrid work schedule. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, stakeholders, and industry partners, to deliver innovative solutions that meet mission-critical needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in UI/UX Design, Human Factors, Game Design & Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of UI/UX design experience with significant contributions to interactive experiences such as games, simulations, or training software.
  • Proficiency in wireframing, mockups, prototyping, and UI pattern development.
  • Experience conducting user research, stakeholder interviews, usability testing, and workflow analysis.
  • Strong skills in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar.
  • Ability to communicate technical approaches clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently or within a team environment.
  • Experience with the full UX design lifecycle, including defining, researching, designing, testing, and iterating.
  • Experience working within and maintaining design systems and style guides.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Apply UI/UX expertise to design engaging, intuitive, and secure user interfaces for Auria’s software solutions.
  • Design modern, responsive interfaces for web-based and desktop applications within a DoD environment.
  • Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing to gather insights and inform design decisions.
  • Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
  • Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries aligned with security and accessibility standards such as Section 508 and WCAG.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to implement designs and ensure visual consistency across products.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum practices, including sprint planning, reviews, demos, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Mentor junior team members and developers on UI/UX principles, human factors, and user-centered design methodologies.
  • Represent the design team in discovery sessions, demonstrations, and training activities with industry partners and clients.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to DoD security constraints and accessibility guidelines.
