About The Company

Friends From The City is a pioneering design, research, and engineering firm dedicated to creating impactful digital solutions for the public sector. Our core mission is to simplify, enhance, and make digital interactions with government entities accessible to all users. We focus on removing barriers such as complex user flows, inaccessible content, and language limitations that hinder effective service delivery. By leveraging accessible design principles, rigorous research methodologies, and robust coding practices, we develop digital products that serve diverse communities efficiently and reliably.

About The Role

As a Frontend Developer - Staff at Friends From The City, you will play a crucial role in transforming government digital services to be more user-friendly, accessible, and reliable. Millions of individuals depend on government websites and applications to access essential services like healthcare, housing, and financial assistance. When these platforms are slow, confusing, or inaccessible, it can prevent people from completing vital tasks. Your expertise will help bridge this gap by building fast, accessible interfaces that empower users to navigate government services with confidence.

You will collaborate closely with designers, researchers, and backend engineers to develop user-centered digital experiences. Your responsibilities will include translating design prototypes into reusable, standards-compliant components, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards such as Section 508 and WCAG 2.2, and maintaining high-quality code through testing and code reviews. Additionally, you will support multilingual interfaces, including Spanish, as the platform expands globally. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and inclusivity of public digital services, making a meaningful difference in people's lives.
