As a Data Scientist at Pohjola Insurance, you’ll have the opportunity to do exactly that! We are seeking a new team member for a permanent position in Helsinki, with the option for partial remote work. The start date is negotiable.

A Few Words About The Job

As a Data Scientist at Pohjola Insurance, you will develop customer and claims analytics for both short- and long-term needs. You’ll take ownership of this area and work with an end-to-end capable team that supports you through all phases of analytics development.

You’ll help build modern cloud-based data streams and analytics solutions that leverage these technologies. Migrating our IT environment to Microsoft’s cloud services is part of OP Group’s updated IT strategy, and you will play a key role in implementing cloud-based data capabilities in collaboration with various stakeholders.

What we expect from you?

We’re looking for someone who already excels in data and analytics work, as well as related software development. You understand what it takes to implement an AI product, including data flows, databases, interfaces, and models. Our busiest interfaces handle hundreds of queries per second, so modeling skills alone are not enough.

Required Skills

  • Advanced university degree in a relevant field
  • Professional experience in similar roles
  • Strong skills in developing and validating NLP, ML, and GenAI models
  • Excellent programming skills, especially in Python
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in English
  • Ability to explain technical and complex topics to stakeholders clearly and understandably

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing on cloud platforms, especially MS Azure and Databricks
  • Experience deploying and maintaining AI systems in production (MLOps)
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies

We use many open-source libraries, so you’ll work with the latest technologies in depth. You’ll have autonomy to define your own work within the team’s goals and influence how we move forward. Best of all, our data products are developed for Pohjola’s own use, so you’ll have the chance to work on long-term projects and explore their development in depth.
