Job role – AWS Cloud Engineer
Job Location – Sydney
Job type – Contract
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and security services.
- Develop and implement infrastructure as code (IaaC) using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK to automate provisioning and configuration management.
- Architect highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant solutions on AWS, leveraging services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS, and others.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automating deployment, testing, and monitoring of applications and services on AWS.
- Configure and manage AWS security features, including IAM roles and policies, VPC security groups, and encryption mechanisms.
- Monitor the health, performance, and cost of AWS infrastructure using cloud monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Cost Explorer.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS infrastructure, deployments, and performance.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application architecture for AWS cloud environments.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, with a focus on AWS.
- Strong understanding of AWS services and best practices, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, ECS, and others.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (AWS CodePipeline, GitLab CI/CD).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and routing.
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards on AWS.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or other relevant certifications.
- Experience with serverless computing and event-driven architectures using AWS Lambda and API Gateway.
- Familiarity with AWS monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Elasticsearch.
- Experience with data migration and management on AWS, including databases and data lakes.
- Knowledge of other cloud platforms e.g., Azure is a plus.
