Developer (Junior) (Freelance) - 7 Months - Brussels
Where Builders Build the Future
At RELYzIT Talent, we don’t recruit — we build. We unite the top 2% of builders — engineers, architects, creators — into a movement across Europe and the GCC. Vetted through our VECTOR7™ Signal Stack, you’re not just hired, you’re chosen. This is more than work. This is where builders build the future.
About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Developer (Freelance) to join our client’s OSLO data standards team for a 7-month project based in Brussels. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the digital transformation of government services, supporting the development and implementation of data standards that drive interoperability and smart data across the public sector. As part of a high-impact team, you’ll help shape the future of information-driven government in Flanders.
Why This Role Matters
Your work will directly empower the transition to a smarter, more connected government. By building and maintaining the technical tools behind OSLO data standards, you’ll enable seamless data exchange and innovation across agencies, citizens, and businesses. The stakes are high: your code will help set the foundation for the next generation of digital public services.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and maintain application-based software supporting the OSLO data standards team’s daily operations and projects
- Translate information models and business requirements into robust digital applications
- Contribute to the evolution of the OSLO toolchain, including TypeScript, shell scripting, HTML, CSS, and Vue.js-driven software
- Support the publication and versioning of data standards for internal and external partners
- Bridge the gap between semantic modeling (UML, RDF) and technical implementation
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring technical excellence and smooth project delivery
- Utilize DevOps practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, to streamline development and deployment
- Manage and troubleshoot technical environments, ensuring security and reliability
- Work independently with virtual access to client environments, using your own laptop
- Adhere to Agile methodologies and contribute to product backlogs, user stories, and functional analysis
Technical Skills
- Demonstrable experience in application development (minimum 1 year, junior level)
- Proficiency in TypeScript, shell scripting, and front-end JavaScript
- Experience with Vue.js or Node.js
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Docker Swarm, and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Linux distributions and DevOps practices
- Experience with REST APIs (minimum 1 year, junior level)
- Basic knowledge of Agile development methodologies
- Experience with source control (GitHub) and CI/CD tools (e.g., CircleCI)
- Understanding of cloud technologies (Azure) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Docker-compose)
- Knowledge of data modeling (ERD, UML) and semantic web technologies (RDF, triple stores, linked open data)
- Familiarity with proxy management (expressjs, caddy, nginx) and open-source libraries (mu-semtech) is a plus
Language Proficiency
- Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is mandatory
Other Requirements
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical/engineering field, or equivalent experience in ICT technology
- Demonstrable experience in coding, testing, and debugging assignments
- Ability to work efficiently, independently, and analytically within a team
- Strong communication and analysis skills
- Experience in managing environments and resolving security issues is a plus
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams is a plus
- Signed NDA document required
- Commitment to the “do no significant harm” (DNSH) principle in line with EU Recovery and Resilience Facility funding
- Freelance contract, full-time (100%), estimated 400 hours over 7 months
- Remote work possible, with virtual access to client environments
