About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer (Freelance) for a 15-month project with our client in Antwerp, Belgium. This is a unique opportunity to help architect and deliver a scalable, high-performance platform within a socially relevant context. You’ll be joining a team where your technical leadership and ownership will directly shape the future of a business-critical system, built on modern engineering principles and Agile methodologies.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and developing robust backend services using Node.js (TypeScript-first approach)
• Building performant, maintainable frontends with React
• Working with PostgreSQL in a production environment to ensure data integrity and performance
• Contributing to architectural decisions, scalability strategies, and security best practices
• Implementing test automation and monitoring code quality across the stack
• Collaborating within an Agile/Scrum team, driving continuous improvement in ways of working
• Coaching and mentoring fellow developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence
• Taking ownership of technical choices and development standards within the platform

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in developing web-based applications at a senior level
• Demonstrated leadership in development teams and coaching other developers
• Expertise in executing programming tasks: coding, testing, debugging with precision
• Ownership mindset with a drive for quality, scalability, and impact
• Ability to challenge the status quo and proactively improve processes and standards
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, builder-first attitude

Technical Skills

• Node.js (TypeScript-first) for backend development (Must have)
• React for modern frontend applications (Must have)
• PostgreSQL and relational database experience in production (Must have)
• TypeScript and JavaScript in production environments (Must have)
• Experience with Docker and containerization (Should have)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) (Should have)
• Test automation and CI/CD pipelines (Should have)

Language Proficiency

• Fluent Dutch speaker at European CEFR - level C2 (Must have)

Other Requirements

• Demonstrable experience with Agile/Scrum methodology, including leading roles
• IT-Code and NDA to be signed (documents to be submitted with your application)
• Ability to provide a comprehensive CV as part of your application
