We’re seeking an experienced Network and Gateway Architect (SFIA NTDS5) to play a pivotal role in the design, integration, and assurance of secure, multi-domain digital platforms. This role is ideal for a senior technical leader who thrives in complex, high-security environments and enjoys shaping modern, resilient network solutions at scale.
Duration: 12 months, full-time
Location: Canberra or Melbourne
Clearance: NV1 or NV2 required
About the Role
You will lead the architecture and implementation of secure gateway infrastructure across cloud and hybrid environments. Working within a high-performing engineering branch, you’ll ensure secure, resilient connectivity across multiple classification levels and mission domains.
This position is central to enabling scalable modernisation initiatives and uplifting enterprise-wide collaboration capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement secure gateway solutions across cloud and hybrid platforms.
- Provide technical leadership in gateway technologies such as SASE, SSE, SIG, CASB, and other cloud-native security platforms.
- Develop technical patterns, reference architectures, and best-practice design documentation.
- Oversee assurance of design and implementation artefacts.
- Communicate complex network concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with partner organisations to ensure secure, multi-classification interconnectivity.
- Support planning, requirements gathering, and rapid delivery of mission-critical network solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong background in secure network architecture and gateway engineering.
- Experience with platforms such as Palo Alto, Juniper SRX, Netskope, Zscaler.
- Deep understanding of Zero Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA).
- Proven knowledge of secure gateway ecosystems, cross-domain routing, and classification-aware network design.
- Ability to translate technical risk, architecture, and strategy into actionable guidance.
Highly Regarded
- Experience in senior technical design or CTO-level advisory roles.
- Background in complex capability programs or multi-domain integration environments.
