About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Scrum Master (Freelance) to join our client’s high-impact team in Brussels for a 9-month mission. This is your opportunity to champion agile transformation, empower cross-functional teams, and drive delivery excellence at scale. As a key reference point for agile best practices, you’ll be instrumental in shaping how products are built and delivered — ensuring that every sprint moves the business forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
• Guide the team through the key steps of the Scrum methodology, ensuring clarity and alignment
• Champion the smooth adoption and application of Scrum, proactively helping the team overcome obstacles
• Support the Product Owner in managing and refining the Product Backlog
• Assist the team in delivering on the Definition of Done (DoD), Sprint Backlog, and sprint goals
• Track and analyze team capacity and velocity metrics to inform planning and progress
• Coach and challenge the team to foster self-organization and continuous improvement
• Remove barriers to team effectiveness and protect the team from internal and external distractions
• Act as an ambassador for agile methods within the organization, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing
• Provide transparent reporting on Scrum deployment and project progress to leadership
• Manage risks and issues proactively, ensuring timely resolution

Technical Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Scrum Master in agile environments
• Expert knowledge of agile methodologies and techniques (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with agile reporting and follow-up tools (e.g., Jira)
• Understanding of automated unit testing, automated functional testing, and continuous integration tooling
• Sound knowledge of software development and project management methodologies

Language Proficiency

• French: Strong listening and speaking skills required
• English: Sound working knowledge required
• Dutch: Optional

• Freelance position – 9 months, based in Brussels (50% on-site, 50% remote)
