About the Role

Our client is seeking a senior Scrum Master / Release Train Engineer to drive the success of their high-impact Prescriptions Program. This is a freelance opportunity for 9 months, based in Brussels, where you’ll empower four agile teams working on long-term, strategically vital healthcare solutions. Your mission: enable teams to deliver at scale, uphold agile values, and navigate complex stakeholder environments — all while shaping the future of digital health.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless delivery of critical healthcare technology across medicinal prescriptions, referral prescriptions, support systems, and the Myhealth mobile application. You’ll be the force that unites project managers, product owners, and development teams, ensuring agile methodologies are not just followed, but truly lived. The stakes are high: your leadership will directly impact the quality, reliability, and innovation of healthcare services used by millions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Champion agile practices across four multidisciplinary teams, ensuring consistent, pragmatic application of Scrum and SAFe frameworks.
• Facilitate quarterly planning and continuous improvement cycles, driving alignment between project managers (PRINCE2) and agile teams.
• Guide, coach, and mentor teams and stakeholders to uphold agile values, adapting methodologies to fit real-world complexities.
• Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and shared understanding of goals.
• Navigate organizational dynamics, advocating for agile best practices even when roles and frameworks diverge.
• Leverage Jira and Confluence to optimize workflow transparency, reporting, and collaboration.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning within and across teams.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven expertise as a Scrum Master and/or Release Train Engineer in complex, multi-team environments.
• Deep understanding of Agile and Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe), with the ability to tailor approaches to fit organizational realities.
• Experience working with public sector or large-scale, multi-year technology programs.
• Strong coaching mindset — able to inspire, challenge, and elevate both teams and clients.
• Assertive, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented: you know when to adapt and when to stand firm on agile principles.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Fluency in French, Dutch, and English is essential.
