AWS DevOps Team leader (Hands on role)
Job Description:
Our client, a leading organisation in the financial services sector, is seeking a dynamic DevOps Manager to lead their cloud transformation strategy and manage high-performing DevOps teams. This is a hybrid role based in Dublin, offering the opportunity to shape cloud operations within a complex IT environment. The role is 50% hybrid and the role will involve managing a small AWS team.
Job Responsibilities
- Define and implement the DevOps strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Lead DevOps teams, ensuring seamless collaboration between development and operations.
- Drive automation through CI/CD pipelines to accelerate software delivery.
- Oversee the maintenance and optimisation of tools and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Monitor systems to ensure high availability, performance, and resilience.
- Lead incident management and vendor performance reviews.
- Maintain compliance evidence for audits and support regulatory governance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in DevOps practices.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to support infrastructure needs for software delivery.
Experience Required
- Minimum 5–7 years of leadership experience in IT/cloud infrastructure roles.
- Manage a small AWS team
- Someone who has migrated On Perm to AWS (Circa 100-200 Applications)
- Proven track record managing cloud migrations from on-premise environments.
- Strong experience with AWS, Infrastructure-as-Code, Terraform, Ansible, Git, and CI/CD tools.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS).
- Experience leading offshore teams and managing enterprise-scale systems.
- Strong stakeholder communication, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated success operating in regulated and high-governance environments.
Desirable Skills
- Process-driven mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage service-related risks and dependencies across IT infrastructure.
- Skilled in influencing internal teams and third-party vendors.
- Familiarity with compliance and audit requirements in a regulated business setting.
- Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD frameworks.
- Knowledge of DevOps best practices and trends in cloud security and automation.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
