Say hello to Pago – the go-to app for household payments in Romania! Our mission is to simplify the way users manage and pay their bills, and over the next five years, we aim to expand into Poland, Italy, and beyond.

Since 2017, we have processed over 15 million payments, totaling more than 1.5 billion Lei.

We are a team of 54 developers, designers, marketers, support, finance and business development professionals, and we plan to grow to over 70 team members in the next year.

We are now looking for a Mid Android Developer to help take our app to the next level!

What We Are Looking For

A Mid Android Developer who will actively contribute to the development of the Pago app, maintain new features, and help the team deliver high-quality code. We are looking for someone with solid foundational experience in mobile development, a proactive attitude, and a desire to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain new features for the Pago app in collaboration with the team.
• Write good, maintainable, and testable software.
• Participate in and perform code reviews and testing to ensure we deliver high-quality software.
• Research new technology and tools and share those findings with the team.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with all the members of our team.
• Participate in dev calls and brainstorm ideas and new approaches to problems.
• Investigate and solve bugs and stability issues.

Must Have

• Experience in Android development (typically 3-4 years).
• A proactive personality, a desire to deliver your best work, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Good communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience with Kotlin and Android SDK.
• Experience with Android Architecture Components (ViewModel, LiveData, Navigation, Room, Flows, etc.).
• Fundamental knowledge of core mobile principles (UI implementation & REST APIs).
• Experience with design patterns and architectures such as MVVM, MVP, or MVI.
• Basic knowledge of SOLID principles and writing Clean Code.
• Experience with publishing an app on the Google Play Store or having worked on a commercial app.
• Experience with writing unit tests.
• Intermediate level of spoken and written English.

Extra Experience - Bonus

If you have experience in any of the following areas, it is a big plus!

Experience in SDK Development for Android:

• Development and maintenance of Android SDK libraries used by other applications.
• Creating public APIs, managing versions, and ensuring backward compatibility.
• Experience with modularization and dependency management (Maven, Gradle).
• Publishing SDKs on Maven Central, JitPack, or Artifactory.

Experience in Android Security:

• Experience with encryption mechanisms (AES, RSA, EncryptedSharedPreferences).
• Experience implementing biometric authentication.
• Understanding of reverse-engineering protection (ProGuard/R8).
• Basic knowledge of SSL pinning or MITM protection.
• Knowledge of protection against Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacks and SSL pinning.
