About the Role

Our client is seeking a senior Full Stack Developer to drive the evolution and expansion of their FOCUS platform. This is a freelance opportunity for 12 months, based in Antwerp, where you’ll play a pivotal role in both enhancing existing applications and architecting new solutions within a dynamic digital ecosystem. Your expertise will directly shape the future of scalable, high-impact technology for a mission-driven organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing, developing, and deploying new applications and features within the FOCUS ecosystem
• Expanding and optimizing existing FOCUS apps for performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Leading and coaching a team of developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and ownership
• Driving end-to-end development: coding, testing, debugging, and delivering high-quality solutions
• Championing Agile and Scrum methodologies, taking a lead role in iterative development cycles
• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Ensuring compliance with IT and security standards, including signing required IT and NDA documentation

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Full Stack Developer, with a strong track record in both backend and frontend development
• Demonstrated experience leading development teams and coaching fellow developers
• Expertise in Node.js and React, with hands-on experience in building and scaling applications
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker Swarm)
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ for robust data and messaging solutions
• Solid knowledge of JavaScript and CSS for seamless, responsive user interfaces
• Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, including a leading role in sprints and ceremonies
• Familiarity with Elixir is a plus
• Ability to autonomously execute programming tasks: coding, testing, debugging, and delivering results
• Commitment to quality, scalability, and continuous improvement

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is required

Other Requirements

• Freelance position with a 12-month contract, with potential for extension
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a high-performing team
• Remote work is possible
• Willingness to sign IT code of conduct and NDA documentation as part of the onboarding process
