Our services include cloud and edge computing technologies to provide predictive maintenance and operator competence development to mining customers.

We are now looking for a Senior Software Developer for our edge computing development team in the Sandvik Digital Services unit to support the growing demand for remote monitoring and analytics services. The preferable location is Tampere region, Finland.

Your role

You will work in our agile SW team together with experienced software developers, data scientists, data engineers and remote monitoring specialists to design and implement our edge software solution. Your focus will primarily be on edge computing technology where you get an opportunity to work on innovative IoT projects with real-world impact. In this role you have also good opportunity for learning and professional growth.

The role is within the Global Digital Service team which improves and creates not only new tools but defines best practices and ways of working to deliver added value to customers through digitalization.

Your main responsibilities will include

• Develop, test and maintain modern Python-based Azure IoT Edge modules on Linux devices.
• Integrate solutions with Azure IoT Hub, Edge runtime, and related services.
• Optimize performance of resource-constrained edge devices.
• Collaborate with team to ensure seamless deployment and scalability of our solutions.
• Work together with the stake holders to define features and visualizations for monitoring and configuration software.

Cross-functional Impact:

• Work closely with product managers to shape technical strategy and execution.
• Partner with data scientists to implement and optimize AI/ML models.
• Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with global data regulations.

Your background

You have a suitable educational background, e.g. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant technical field. You are seasoned developer and have advanced knowledge of computing technologies, modern SW engineering and CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and edge computing concepts is highly desirable and earlier experience in data engineering or full stack development is considered as an advantage.

You have the curiosity to explore new ideas and develop them into robust solutions in collaboration with the team. As the organization is a global player, you naturally need well-developed English skills.
