DevOps Managerr – (Contract)

📍 Dublin (Hybrid) 🗓 12-month contract 💰 €660 per day

We’re working with a global payments technology organisation on a high-impact contract opportunity for a Senior Product Manager – Technical to join a critical platform team operating at massive scale.

This role sits at the intersection of product, DevOps, and engineering, and would suit a senior hands-on DevOps engineer ready to step into a technical product leadership role, or an experienced PM-T with deep systems and automation expertise.

The Role

You’ll act as a systems-focused Product Manager, shaping the technical direction of a high-performance, highly available decisioning platform that processes billions of transactions daily.

Working closely with engineering, DevOps, operations, and business stakeholders, you’ll drive improvements across CI/CD, automation, observability, resilience, performance, and release management.

This is a hybrid role — part product ownership, part system analysis, and still hands-on where required.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the technical product backlog end-to-end (Jira)
• Translate complex system behaviour into clear user stories and acceptance criteria
• Lead technical discovery, scoping, and dependency management
• Champion automation-first thinking across the SDLC
• Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and deployment automation
• Operationalize AI from prototype to production, enabling AI-assisted prototyping, integrating AI into CI/CD with quality and security gates, and owning platform features for performance tuning, scalability, and end-to-end observability.
• Focus on platform scalability, monitoring, self-healing, and resilience
• Collaborate closely with DevOps, engineering, and BizOps teams
• Support and lead Scrum ceremonies and release activities
• Remain hands-on with selected DevOps initiatives based on team capacity

Required Experience

• Strong background in DevOps / Platform Engineering
• Experience moving toward or operating in a Technical Product Manager / PM-T role
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD (Jenkins or similar) and automation practices
• Experience with containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Strong understanding of observability & monitoring (e.g. OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Splunk)
• Backend systems experience (preferably Java) and APIs (REST, JSON, XML, gRPC)
• Experience with high-availability, distributed systems
• Agile delivery experience (SAFe exposure a plus)
• Excellent stakeholder communication and systems-thinking mindset

Nice to Have

• Experience in large-scale, regulated or security-focused environments
• Exposure to cloud capacity planning and elastic scaling
• Background in performance engineering or platform reliability
