About the role

StormGeo is looking for a Software API Engineer who will play a critical role in designing, developing, and installing software solutions that are employed by the weather and shipping industry worldwide. As part of StormGeo’s DataOps team, you will help us to constantly look for different ways of making complex datasets available through modern data platforms, data management and business intelligence. You will help us build our APIs and services and work with rapidly developing technologies.

This position is based in Bergen, or Oslo, Norway.

Main responsibilities

• Work independently and collaborate with a global team to design, develop, and maintain StormGeo’s weather data APIs.
• Research, evaluate, and explore new technologies as needed.
• Design, build, and document modern data APIs across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure new developments align with the product roadmap and integrate seamlessly with other platform components.
• Support the ongoing development and maintenance of existing projects and applications.
• Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies to enhance performance, scalability, and usability of applications.
• Ensuring APIs are well-described, documented, and ideally self-descriptive.

Core requirements

• Strong proficiency in Web APIs, C#, .NET Core, SQL, and database design and data modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated build and deployment tools.
• 3+ years of experience in designing and implementing software solutions.
• Knowledge of containerized applications (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is an advantage.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, testable, efficient, and secure code following best practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native architectures is considered a plus.
• Self-motivated and innovative, with strong problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multinational, distributed team, knowing when to seek input or support.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
