Network Engineer (Mid–Senior)

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a Government Department in Canberra, working in a hybrid environment across both project-based initiatives and business-as-usual (BAU) operations. This role is ideal for a mid to senior engineer with strong Cisco expertise who enjoys hands-on technical work within a collaborative team.

This role is available on a contract or permanent basis and requires an active NV1 Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide BAU network support including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution
• Perform network upgrades, updates, patching, and firmware management
• Participate in key projects, including:
• Migration to a new Cisco ISE (ICE) environment
• Small-scale cloud migration initiatives
• Work collaboratively within a team to maintain secure and reliable network services

Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong Routing and Switching expertise
• Solid WiFi / Wireless networking experience
• Proven Cisco experience, including:
• Cisco ISE (ICE)
• Cisco Wireless solutions
• Experience with Fortinet firewalls
• Zscaler experience is desirable but not essential
• Mid - Senior level network engineering experience

Security Requirements

• NV1 Security Clearance required (or ability to obtain)
