Frontend Developer

Description:

We are hiring a Senior Software Developer to help build and evolve a social media and news app available on both iOS and Android. This role is heavily focused on front-end development, feature expansion, and code quality. You will work closely with backend developers to shape APIs, improve performance, and refactor existing systems to be more robust and scalable. Fully remote. Must be ENGLISH-SPEAKING.Hours: 20 - 30 hours a week. Flexible, preferably in CST time zone.

Salary: $4,500/mo

Key Responsibilities:

• Build new front-end features and enhance existing functionality in a React Native codebase.
• Refactor existing components and identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with backend developers to define API requirements and data contracts.
• Write clean, testable, and well-structured code.
• Evaluate and work with front-end libraries and frameworks, understanding tradeoffs and long-term implications.
• Participate in technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Communicate clearly with teammates and stakeholders to move features from idea to production.

Key Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on React Native development experience.
• Strong experience with TypeScript and JavaScript in production environments.
• Proven software development experience shipping real-world applications.
• Solid understanding of front-end tooling, libraries, and frameworks, including their benefits and limitations.
• Ability to write high-quality, testable code.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.
• Comfortable working in a startup environment and adapting as the product evolves.

Nice to have:

• Previous startup experience.
• Experience working on consumer-facing or content-driven applications.
• Familiarity with mobile performance optimization or accessibility considerations.
