About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Scrum Master (Freelance) to join our client’s agile transformation journey in Brussels. In this pivotal role, you will empower cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact digital solutions, ensuring agile best practices are not just followed, but truly lived. Your mission: maximize team performance, foster self-organization, and shield the squad from distractions so they can focus on building what matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
• Schedule and monitor key steps of the agile methodology, ensuring smooth project flow
• Guide the team in overcoming obstacles and maximizing results, acting as a shield from internal and external distractions
• Support the Product Owner with Product Backlog management and prioritization
• Assist the team in delivering on the Definition of Done (DoD), Sprint Backlog, and other deliverables
• Track and analyze team capacity and velocity metrics for effective planning and progress tracking
• Coach and challenge the squad to foster self-organization and continuous improvement
• Champion agile methods within the organization, acting as an ambassador for best practices
• Report to chapter leads on the deployment and effectiveness of Scrum methodology
• Proactively manage risks and issues, ensuring timely resolution
• Promote knowledge sharing, open feedback, and a culture of trust within the team
• Encourage team building, collaboration, and autonomy, using influence over authority
• Enable actions aligned with the broader IT strategy, looking beyond day-to-day objectives

Technical Skills & Experience

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience as a Scrum Master or in agile delivery roles
• Expert knowledge of agile methodologies and techniques (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
• Proven experience in delivery management within large organizations (preferred)
• Strong command of agile reporting and follow-up tools (e.g., Jira)
• Understanding of automated unit testing, automated functional testing, and continuous integration tooling
• Solid grasp of software development and project management methodologies

Language Proficiency

• Sound knowledge of English is required
• Fluency in either Dutch or French is mandatory

Other Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent
• No specific certifications required
• Hybrid work model: 50% on-site in Brussels, 50% remote
• Agile mindset: Willingness to contribute beyond your primary discipline to achieve sprint goals
