About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Android Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will contribute to building high-quality, scalable Android applications used by millions of users. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, data science, analytics, and operations to develop innovative features that improve the rideshare experience. Your expertise will help us solve complex real-time data transfer and synchronization challenges, ensuring seamless performance and usability across our platform. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on Lyft’s mapping and navigation solutions, helping to shape the future of urban mobility through cutting-edge technology and user-centric design.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience as an Android developer
• Proven track record of shipping large-scale Android applications
• Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin programming languages
• Experience with design and architecture patterns for mobile applications
• Knowledge of usability principles and product design
• Experience building web services and accessing data storage solutions
• Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in English
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams
• Familiarity with reactive programming and unidirectional data flow (bonus)
• Experience with side projects or open-source contributions (bonus)
• Strong understanding of architecture and design patterns in mobile development
• Great product sense with a focus on usability and design quality

• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Android development and best practices
• Design and implement engaging UX features for millions of users
• Collaborate with product teams to develop new features and enhancements
• Participate in experimentation and data analysis to improve application performance and user experience
• Address and solve complex real-time data transfer and synchronization challenges
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code adhering to high-quality standards
• Contribute to architecture decisions and code reviews to ensure robustness and scalability
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues promptly
• Engage with cross-functional teams to align on product goals and deliverables
