We are seeking a Freelance Scrum Master for a 10-month mission in Brussels with our client. This is your opportunity to drive real impact, empower high-performing teams, and shape the future of digital banking in a builder-first environment.

Why This Role Matters

As Scrum Master, you are the catalyst for agile transformation and delivery excellence. You will enable squads to maximize results, foster self-organization, and shield teams from distractions. Your leadership will directly influence the success of critical digital initiatives, ensuring our client’s squads deliver value at speed and scale. The stakes are high: your expertise will help teams overcome obstacles, drive continuous improvement, and deliver outcomes that matter.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Champion the Scrum methodology, ensuring global understanding and adoption within the squad
• Set up and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies: Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
• Coach and mentor the team and stakeholders on agile best practices, fostering a culture of feedback and trust
• Remove barriers to team effectiveness and protect the squad from internal and external distractions
• Track and analyze team capacity and velocity metrics for planning and progress
• Ensure consistency and transparency of the Product Backlog in Jira
• Support the team in delivering on the Definition of Done, Sprint Backlog, and project milestones
• Promote self-organization and continuous improvement within the team
• Manage risks and issues proactively, enabling the team to focus on delivering value
• Encourage cross-functional collaboration, empowering team members to contribute beyond their primary roles

What We’re Looking For

• At least 5 years of relevant experience as a Scrum Master in agile environments
• Expert knowledge of agile methodology and techniques, with proven coaching experience
• Demonstrated experience in the banking sector
• Master’s degree or equivalent by experience
• Scrum Master Certification
• Servant leader mindset: positive, empathetic, pragmatic, and proactive
• Outstanding communication skills and the ability to foster open feedback and trust
• Continuous improvement mindset: view every challenge as an opportunity to learn and adapt
• Team player who encourages collaboration, autonomy, and knowledge sharing
• Ability to look beyond day-to-day objectives and align actions with IT strategy

Technical Skills & Tools

• Mandatory:
• Deep knowledge of agile reporting and follow-up tools (e.g., Jira)
• Understanding of automated unit testing, automated functional testing, and continuous integration tooling
• Sound knowledge of software development and project management methodologies
• Preferable:
• Experience working in cross-functional agile teams (analysis, development, testing, etc.)
• Ability to contribute across disciplines to achieve sprint goals

Other Requirements

• Freelance position – 10 months, Brussels (50% onsite, 50% remote)
• No travel required beyond the stated onsite expectation
• Agile teams are cross-functional; willingness to contribute beyond your primary discipline is essential
