Contract – £800/ day Outside IR35

A confidential SaaS scale-up is seeking an experienced Head of Software Engineering to lead and mature a growing technology function.

You’ll take ownership of a 20-strong engineering team (permanent and contractors) and play a key role in scaling delivery capability, strengthening engineering standards, and aligning technical execution with commercial objectives.

The Role

• Lead and develop the engineering function across backend and frontend technologies (.NET & React)
• Set engineering standards, governance, and quality metrics
• Shape the technical roadmap alongside Product and senior leadership
• Improve delivery predictability, release cadence, and operational resilience
• Mentor senior engineers and team leads

Ideal Background

• Proven leadership within a SaaS or product-led environment
• Strong technical foundation in .NET and modern JavaScript frameworks (React)
• Experience scaling teams and implementing robust engineering practices
• Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels

Contract Length: 6–9 months
