About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Developer (PSD) to lead the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge technology solutions that enhance the member experience and strengthen BECU’s market position. In this role, you will leverage your technical mastery, strategic insight, and leadership capabilities to architect scalable, reliable, and innovative systems. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, guide cross-functional teams, and serve as a technical visionary to drive enterprise-wide initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to influence technological direction, mentor upcoming talent, and contribute to impactful projects that support millions of members. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent work/education experience
- Minimum of 10 years of IT experience with demonstrated expertise in application design
- Experience with financial products such as mortgages, loans, credit cards, and deposits
- Proficiency in managing source control models and organizational development practices
- Strong knowledge of Secure Development best practices
- Proven ability to learn and implement emerging technologies across the product lifecycle
- Experience designing and delivering REST APIs
- Expertise in .NET and C# development
- Familiarity with open-source technologies and libraries
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud development and architecture, including security and operational considerations
- High-level expertise in server-side web development, REST/web services, or large-scale data analytics
- Deep understanding of SOLID principles, Object-Oriented Programming, and Microservices architecture
- Knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or TeamCity
- Strong background in Test-Driven Development, unit testing, and performance/load testing
- Proficiency with Git workflows, code reviews, and branching strategies
- Experience with SQL, data warehousing, ETL processes, and NoSQL systems like Cosmos DB
- Proven leadership in enterprise-wide initiatives and cross-team collaboration
- Design and evelop innovative, market-leading solutions that address business challenges and enhance member experiences
- Visualize, articulate, and promote technical strategies that set new industry standards
- Collaborate with business leaders to build prototypes and conceptualize solutions aligned with strategic goals
- Stay current with emerging technologies and share insights to inform team practices
- Lead complex, multi-tier architecture projects, including analysis, coding, testing, and documentation
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance engineering practices and operational efficiency
- Uphold and promote coding standards, best practices, and code quality across teams
- Drive technical strategy and enterprise-wide architectural decisions
- Mentor and develop technical talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration
- Provide expert technical consultation to delivery teams, resolving complex challenges
- Support Agile planning and execution, breaking down work into manageable components
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver large-scale initiatives throughout the SDLC
