TEST LEAD - Precision Forestry & Geospatial Solutions


We are looking for a Test Lead to join our growing team of software development professionals at Arbonaut, part of MW Group. We are a global leader in remote sensing and geospatial analytics, supporting leading forestry organizations, forest managers, and large-scale forest owners around the world.


Your Role as Test Lead

As a Test Lead, you will have end-to-end ownership of software quality assurance across web, mobile, backend and API systems. You will lead testing strategy, test automation architecture and quality practices across squads, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of reliability, scalability and usability.


This is a hands-on leadership role combining strategy, technical expertise, mentoring and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities


1. Test Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test strategies and plans for end-to-end features across web applications, mobile applications (Android), and backend services (API).
  • Define testing objectives, scope, risk assessment, environments and success criteria.
  • Ensure full traceability from requirements to test coverage.
  • Establish measurable quality metrics and reporting standards.


2. Manual Testing & Quality Oversight

  • Ensure structured test execution and high-quality reporting.
  • Oversee system, regression, integration and acceptance testing activities.
  • Drive risk-based testing approaches to optimize coverage and efficiency.


3. Test Automation Leadership

  • Architect, maintain and evolve Test automation frameworks for web, mobile (Android), and API testing.
  • Hands-on expertise required in Robot Framework (must have); Appium Library, Browser Library, SeleniumLibrary; and Playwright.
  • Ensure automation is integrated into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Improve execution reliability, parallelization and reporting.
  • Promote scalable and maintainable test design patterns.


4. CI/CD & DevOps Integration

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work with, Git, Docker, and Jenkins / GitHub Actions.
  • Ensure automated quality gates are enforced before releases.


5. Collaboration & Debugging

  • Work closely with developers, product managers, designers and stakeholders to debug issues, analyze root causes and improve testability of code.
  • Advocate for best QA practices across squads.
  • Improve defect lifecycle management and reporting transparency.


6. Technical Leadership & Mentoring

  • Mentor and guide QA engineers and developers in testing best practices.
  • Improve code testability through architectural and design guidance.
  • Lead quality initiatives and continuously refine processes and tooling.
  • Act as a quality evangelist within the organization.


7. AI-Driven Testing

  • Explore and implement AI-driven testing approaches.
  • Experience with tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or similar is considered a strong plus.
  • Exposure to Playwright MCP and AI agent-driven testing is highly valued.
  • Evaluate and introduce emerging AI-assisted automation techniques to improve efficiency and coverage.


8. Quality Ownership

  • Take full ownership of product quality before release.
  • Ensure testing is aligned with business goals and customer expectations.
  • Establish continuous improvement cycles for QA maturity.


What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a motivated, solution-oriented and technically strong Test Lead who combines strategic thinking with hands-on expertise. You bring strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, paired with clear and impactful communication skills that enable you to influence stakeholders effectively. You approach your work with a leadership and mentoring mindset, demonstrating the ability to operate independently while also collaborating seamlessly within teams. Your way of working is driven by customer focus and high quality standards. You are fluent in English, and Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.


The required qualifications for this role are:

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in software quality assurance
  • Strong experience in manual testing, test execution and reporting
  • Proven experience designing and implementing test strategies
  • Solid hands-on expertise in Robot Framework (mandatory), Playwright, Mobile test automation (Appium), Web automation and API testing.
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Kotlin.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Experience with Docker.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience working in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure DevOps environments.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field. A Master’s degree is considered an advantage.


Nice To Have

  • ISTQB certifications.
  • Experience in GIS-based systems.
  • Exposure to AI-driven automation and agent-based testing approaches.
  • Experience with non-functional testing (e.g.- performance, security and usability testing).
