The Release Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of software and system releases throughout the entire lifecycle—from development and testing to production. This role ensures that release milestones are met by monitoring project progress, managing dependencies, and aligning the release process with overall business objectives. The Release Manager also provides tools and services that enable product teams to efficiently manage and deploy code to production.

In addition, the Release Manager leads a team of release coordinators, ensuring balanced workload distribution and clear prioritization while working under pressure. Using the Scrum framework, the role involves mentoring coordinators, supporting their skill development, and collaborating closely with team leaders, project managers, and product owners. Together, they ensure high-quality and well-planned releases for applications and systems used across the MSC Group entities.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate the end-to-end release process, ensuring software and system releases are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
• Maintain the centralized release calendar and monitor project progress to ensure milestones and deadlines are achieved.
• Act as the main point of contact for release activities, collaborating with stakeholders and resolving cross-team issues or blockers.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate risks that may impact release quality, scope, or schedule.
• Lead and organize the release coordination team, including workload planning, prioritization, and daily Scrum activities.
• Coach and develop team members while ensuring effective collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team.

WHO ARE YOU?

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical IT role, including release and/or project management.
• Strong knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), with experience in DevOps and automation practices.
• Experience with Azure and Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines, Git, and release management processes.
• Technical understanding of development and deployment environments, including PowerShell scripting, SQL/database management, and code quality tools.
• Experience with test automation, monitoring, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) to support release quality and visibility.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead, coach, and develop a team while managing priorities and workloads.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in Dutch and English (French is a plus), and the ability to work effectively across teams.
