The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting an organization’s network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity, optimal performance, and security. This role involves configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment, as well as monitoring network performance and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
Network Engineers collaborate with IT teams to support business operations, implement new technologies, and safeguard data through secure network practices. They also document network configurations, create disaster recovery plans, and provide technical guidance.

Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure optimal uptime.
- Implement and enforce robust network security measures.
- Configure and optimize Cisco-based devices following industry best practices.
- Apply technical expertise in both software and hardware (e.g., Cisco IOS upgrades, device troubleshooting, log analysis).
- Investigate and resolve network incident tickets, identify root causes, and develop preventive solutions.
- Provide event support, delivering tailored network configurations for hirer requirements; availability for evenings and weekends is expected, with compensatory time off during the week.
- Experience in sporting and entertainment environments is a plus.
- Collaborate with IT teams on infrastructure projects and initiatives.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of network architecture, standards, and procedures.
- Deliver technical support and training to staff members.
- Confidently handle walk-in user issues at first-level support.
- Demonstrate good multi-tasking skills by assisting walk-in users, managing calls, emails, and chat inquiries simultaneously.
- Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols
- Experience with network hardware (Cisco, Palo Alto etc.).
- Familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN technologies.
- Proficiency in network monitoring tools.
- Analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) is a plus.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking – Quickly diagnose issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
- Communication Skills – Explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical staff and collaborate across teams.
- Teamwork & Collaboration – Work seamlessly with IT colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders on projects and incident resolution.
- Adaptability & Flexibility – Handle changing priorities, evolving technologies, and unexpected network challenges.
- Customer Service Orientation – Provide patient, professional support to end-users, ensuring a positive experience.
- Time Management & Organization – Balance multiple tasks such as incident tickets, walk-in support, and project deadlines.
- Attention to Detail – Maintain accurate documentation and ensure configurations follow best practices.
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or a related field
- Any application based professional certification on cloud would be a plus
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
- Knowledge of ITIL, cloud platforms, and ticketing workflows
- Optional: HTML5/web certification
- Experience in application support role (3 years minimum)
