The Role
We are seeking a skilled Information Security (InfoSec) Analyst to support information security, compliance and data protection operations controls and events across Microsoft‑centric customer environments. As an InfoSec Analyst, you will act as a subject‑matter expert supporting information security, data protection, and compliance operations across customer environments within a managed services organisation. The role is focused primarily on Microsoft Purview, where you will monitor and analyse security and compliance alerts, tune policies, investigate incidents, and contribute to continuous improvement of data protection controls.
Increment Managed Services delivers 24×7 support services across a diverse customer base, including SMB, mid‑market, enterprise, and government organisations. Our customers rely on us to operate, protect, and continuously improve their technology environments, with a strong emphasis on security, reliability, and operational maturity. The IMS team works closely with customers to gain a deep understanding of their technical landscapes, security posture, and business challenges, enabling us to deliver tailored support and managed service solutions that provide real, measurable value.
As an InfoSec Analyst you will work closely with security, cloud, and governance teams to reduce risk, improve visibility, and ensure customer environments meet regulatory, contractual, and organisational obligations.
This role suits someone who enjoys operational security work, data governance, deep technical platforms, and making measurable improvements to data security posture in complex Microsoft 365 environments.
Key Responsibilities
Microsoft Purview Operations
- Monitor, analyse, and triage security, compliance, and data protection alerts across Microsoft Purview.
- Manage and tune DLP, Information Protection, Insider Risk, Records Management, and eDiscovery policies to balance risk reduction and operational effectiveness.
- Review data classification and sensitivity labelling outcomes; refine auto‑labelling and detection rules as required.
- Support ongoing operation of compliance controls across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Investigate data security and compliance incidents, including suspected data leakage, inappropriate sharing, or policy breaches.
- Perform root‑cause analysis and determine scope, impact, and remediation actions.
- Coordinate with internal teams and customer stakeholders during incident response activities.
- Ensure incidents are documented, tracked, and reported in line with operational and contractual requirements.
- Identify control gaps, misconfigurations, and emerging risks within customer Microsoft 365 environments.
- Recommend and implement security and compliance improvements aligned to best practice and regulatory expectations.
- Continuously improve policies and processes to reduce false positives and improve detection fidelity.
- Support compliance monitoring and reporting obligations using Purview Compliance Manager, audit logs, and risk metrics.
- Assist with data governance activities including retention, records management, and defensible disposal.
- Produce operational reports, trends, and executive‑level summaries on data security posture and issues.
- Contribute to customer evidence gathering for audits, assessments, and regulatory reviews.
- Provide day‑to‑day security and compliance operational support across multiple customer tenants.
- Work within defined SLAs, operating models, and escalation pathways.
- Collaborate with security architects, engineers, and service delivery teams to align security operations with customer objectives.
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures for Purview‑related services.
- Act as a trusted subject‑matter expert for customers on Microsoft data security and compliance capabilities.
- Translate technical security findings into clear, actionable advice for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on secure data handling, governance practices, and best‑practice use of Microsoft Purview.
Skills & Experience
Microsoft Purview Security Expertise
- Strong hands‑on experience with the Microsoft Purview, including:
- Information Protection (Sensitivity Labels, auto‑labelling)
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and alerts
- Insider Risk Management
- Information Barriers and Records Management
- Compliance Manager and audit capabilities
- Understanding of Microsoft 365 security architecture, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams data flows.
- 3+ years’ experience in information security, data security, compliance, or governance roles.
- Hands‑on operational experience managing or supporting Microsoft Purview in production environments.
- Experience responding to security or compliance incidents within Microsoft 365.
- Proven experience working within enterprise or regulated customer environments.
Security Operations & Analysis
- Exposure to managed services or security operations (SOC / SecOps) models is highly desirable.
- Ability to analyse alerts, investigate data security incidents, and determine root cause and impact.
- Experience tuning and optimising security and compliance policies to reduce false positives while maintaining control effectiveness.
- Understanding of data classification, handling, and protection principles.
- Ability to assess control gaps and recommend improvements aligned with risk.
Governance Risk and Compliance
- Knowledge of information security and data protection standards and concepts (e.g. ISO 27001, Essential Eight principles, privacy obligations).
- Experience supporting regulatory or compliance requirements (e.g. data retention, eDiscovery, privacy, audit readiness).
- Strong documentation and reporting skills, including executive‑level summaries and operational metrics.
General & Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with automation and AI
- Clear written and verbal communication, particularly when explaining security concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a managed services environment with multiple customers and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ownership, attention to detail, and continuous improvement mindset.
Certifications (desirable)
Microsoft certifications such as:
SC-401, SC100, SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500, AZ-104, AI-102, AZ-400
