Role Overview:

As the Commercial Manager, you will lead the economic evaluation, commercial structuring, and value optimisation of UCC Holding's upstream oil and gas portfolio. You will provide critical economic, fiscal, and commercial insights that inform and guide investment decisions across exploration, development, M&A, and portfolio management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead economic assessments for exploration, development, and producing assets, building and maintaining economic models such as NPV, IRR, breakeven, and cash flow.
  • Conduct scenario, risk, and uncertainty analysis to support key internal investment milestones.
  • Align economic assumptions with corporate price decks and capital allocation frameworks.
  • Evaluate fiscal regimes, PSCs, royalties, tax structures, and identify fiscal optimisation opportunities.
  • Support negotiations with governments, regulators, and partners on fiscal terms.
  • Benchmark global fiscal regimes and assess competitiveness.
  • Provide support for portfolio screening, ranking, and capital prioritisation.
  • Identify portfolio optimisation opportunities such as divestments, farm-ins/-outs, and acquisitions.
  • Provide commercial insights for long-term planning and strategy.
  • Lead the commercial structuring of joint ventures, farm-in/farm-out deals, and strategic partnerships.
  • Assess risk allocation and design commercial frameworks for developments and asset transactions.
  • Contribute to partner negotiations, joint operating agreements (JOAs), and contract drafting.
  • Ensure commercial agreements deliver value and maintain compliance.
  • Track global upstream trends, M&A activity, pricing, cost drivers, and competitor strategies.
  • Provide strategic insights on emerging risks, opportunities, and market conditions.
  • Support the evaluation of new acreage, exploration opportunities, and potential acquisitions.
  • Advise senior leadership on economic and commercial matters for key investment decisions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts.
  • Collaborate with subsurface, development, finance, and business development teams.
  • Present investment cases, portfolio recommendations, and commercial strategies to executives and boards.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in upstream commercial, economics, or strategy roles, with expertise in exploration, development, and producing assets.
  • Proven expertise in upstream commercial structures and supporting investment committees and major project sanctions.


Technical Skills:

  • Advanced economic modelling, valuation, and project development economics.
  • Portfolio optimisation and investment screening expertise.
  • Strong capabilities in risk and uncertainty analysis.
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills.
  • Advanced Excel modelling and use of industry datasets (e.g., Wood Mackenzie).
