Python Developer (6-Month Contract | Likely Extension)

Location: Sydney (Hybrid)

We’re partnering with a high-performing technology environment to secure a Python Developer who thrives in complex, large-scale systems and enjoys working across engineering, infrastructure, and operations.

This is a hands-on backend role where you’ll play a key part in building, optimising, and supporting critical platforms — with a strong focus on automation, reliability, and performance.

The Role

You’ll be working across backend development, system optimisation, and platform reliability, including:

• Designing and developing backend services using Python
• Working across React and NodeJS environments
• Managing and optimising PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB databases
• Implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks
• Troubleshooting complex cross-domain issues (application, network, database, OS)
• Supporting platform upgrades, scaling, and migrations
• Providing Tier-3 support and mentoring junior support teams
• Collaborating with network, security, and infrastructure teams

What We’re Looking For

Mandatory Skills

• Strong experience with Python development (core backend focus)
• Exposure to GoLang, NodeJS, and React
• Experience integrating with REST APIs, JSON/XML services
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL
• Working knowledge of MongoDB
• Strong automation and scripting (Bash) capabilities

Nice to Have

• Experience in ISP, telco, or large-scale environments
• Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, TR-069
• Strong Linux (RHEL) administration experience
• Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk)
• Familiarity with Kafka or RabbitMQ
