We’re looking for a dedicated and ambitious professional to lead an early-stage product team within our 30+ person IT services company.
Our in-site search & analytics product - an internal startup in our e-commerce business accelerator - secured its first paying customers at the end of 2025 and is growing fast. Over the next 12–18 months, we aim to scale from a few dozen to several hundred customer accounts in a highly specialized market niche. The architecture, infrastructure, and engineering practices we establish now will define how far we can grow.
We’re looking for a Senior Engineer & Tech Lead to own the technical direction of the product. You’ll be the most senior engineer on the team, working alongside three engineers and the Product Owner. When needed, you’ll also have access to the parent company's experienced engineering team.
This is a hands-on role: around 70% coding and architecture, 30% technical leadership and mentorship. You won’t have direct reports, but you will be the technical authority the team relies on for complex decisions, code quality, and engineering standards.
In return, you’ll get real ownership of technical direction, the autonomy to make decisions that matter, a fast-moving team without unnecessary bureaucracy, and the opportunity to shape architecture and engineering practices early in the life of a product with significant growth ahead.
If you’re motivated by greenfield architecture, multi-tenant scaling challenges, and building high-traffic products that real businesses depend on, this role is for you.
Architecture and technical direction
- Lead architectural decisions as the product scales to hundreds of clients, balancing speed, scalability, and cost
- Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions for infrastructure, libraries, and third-party services
- Set roadmap priorities with the Product Owner, balancing technical debt, performance, and features
- Own technical quality across the product: performance, reliability, and cost per query
- Write production code primarily in PHP and Go - with Go as the core of our search traffic flow - plus JavaScript/React, Node.js, and SQL where needed
- Lead complex, cross-cutting features end-to-end across our microservices
- Maintain production rigor across CI/CD, observability, incident response, and release management
- Raise the engineering bar through code reviews, technical standards, and pragmatic process improvements
- Identify and remove blockers such as technical debt, tooling gaps, and workflow friction
- Continuously improve how the team builds, including how we use AI-assisted development
- Mentor three engineers: improve technical thinking, unblock challenges, and support growth
- Partner closely with the Product Owner: challenge specs, propose better technical alternatives, and surface trade-offs early
- Translate product goals into clear technical execution paths rather than waiting for tickets
Engineering depth
- Strong experience building production software, with a proven track record as a Tech Lead or Staff-level individual contributor
- Strong expertise in PHP or Go - our primary languages
- Comfort working across the full stack: Node.js, JavaScript/React, and SQL
- Go experience is a strong advantage, as it powers our search routing, but it’s not mandatory if you’re ready to learn
- Experience scaling B2B SaaS or similar multi-tenant systems from early stage through significant growth
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions or equivalent), Kubernetes, GitOps deployments (Argo CD or similar), monitoring and observability (Grafana, Loki, or equivalent), Redis, and release management across microservices
- Solid understanding of incident response and reliability engineering
- Cost-conscious mindset: You treat infrastructure spend as a real engineering responsibility
- Outcome-oriented: you start from the problem, not the ticket
- AI-first mindset: we believe modern development is deeply integrated with AI. You should embrace it, while understanding its limits and managing its risks
- Ability to challenge assumptions and help the team find better paths to product outcomes
- Pragmatic about trade-offs: able to ship today while building for tomorrow
- Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn new domains and technologies
- Experience with search infrastructure: OpenSearch / Elasticsearch, relevance and ranking testing, semantic search
- Experience with queueing and streaming systems such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis-based queues, NATS, or similar
- Strong Kubernetes and GitOps experience (Argo CD, Flux, or similar) at scale
- Direct experience with ecommerce platforms such as Magento, Shopify, PrestaShop, or WooCommerce
- Background in scaling high-traffic, multi-tenant systems
- Interest in growing into broader technical leadership as the product and team expand
- We use Claude Code daily across the company, alongside other AI development tools
- Our stack: PHP, Go, Node.js, JavaScript/React, SQL, Redis, OpenSearch, Grafana, Loki, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Argo CD
- We’re data-driven: search queries and behavioral data shape our product decisions, so we build from evidence, not guesswork
- We work in an office-first hybrid setup, with at least three days per week in our Central Kaunas office
- Daily tools: Jira, Confluence, Google Workspace
- The chance to work with an exceptional team - seriously, one of the best
- Exposure to leading global e-commerce businesses and the opportunity to learn from top industry experts
- Strong focus on R&D and deep technological innovation, with room to contribute to meaningful advancements
- Salary range: €5000–6500 gross/month, depending on your experience and competencies
- Acknowledgment and visibility in the organization and outside of it. Should you want it, we’ll help you grow as a thought leader in your field and build your public profile at top international industry events.
