Cyber Security Engineer

This position will help shape the future of cyber security by driving strategic and technology projects that make a real impact. You will have a deep understanding of security engineering principles and practices, as well as a strong track record of successfully designing and delivering high-quality security solutions. You will be responsible for the implementation of information security systems and preventing cyber security risks across NGM Group.


What will your key responsibilities include?


Working closely with IT architects, engineers, developers, and both internal and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for:


  • Developing, building, and maintaining cyber security systems, while assessing their design and operational effectiveness.
  • Embedding security controls into business applications and infrastructure, ensuring their effectiveness is continuously evaluated.
  • Proactively identifying control weaknesses in hardware, software, and applications.
  • Collaborating with the Security Architect to develop security requirements for IT infrastructure, ensuring alignment with NGM Group’s security standards.
  • Assisting in threat modelling activities to enhance the organisation's security posture.
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure ongoing adherence to security standards.
  • Developing, documenting, and maintaining procedures for the administration, upkeep, and enhancement of cybersecurity systems and controls.


What are we looking for?


We’re seeking a skilled and adaptable Cyber Security Engineer with a focus on critical thinking and end-to-end delivery of solutions to achieve desired outcomes. Success in this role requires resilience, adaptability, and the ability to lead in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We value individuals who embrace change and continuously evolve with emerging technologies and methods. To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience as a hands-on technical engineer, capable of understanding and resolving complex issues efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of security principles, protocols, and technologies, including but not limited to firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, vulnerability management, access control, and encryption.
  • Exposure to Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with cloud security tooling and cloud platforms, such as Endpoint Security, SIEM, AWS, Azure Security, and O365.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or a related field.
  • A demonstrated ability to critically analyse, identify, and solve problems with innovative and practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information and ideas clearly across diverse mediums and audiences.


Experience in the following would be highly regarded:

  • Information security qualifications such as CISSP, GSEC, Security + or CISM;
  • Technical experience of database and operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, SQL.
