Backend Developer

Are you an experienced backend developer looking to join a Scrum team developing and maintaining one of Finland’s most extensive customer bases in e-commerce business?

We are looking for you! You will be working as a Backend Developer in a team with easy-going and skilled individuals. The position is permanent and full-time.

The Scrum team is part of the Player Management team within the Gaming Product Development unit, a forerunner in applying new technologies and creating excellent digital services for our customers. Your team will work on continuous product development with modern techniques, helping others and yourself to succeed. At Veikkaus, development teams do not only create code, but they also design, create, implement and maintain the systems from the very beginning.

In this role you will focus on customer information systems and microservices including for example session handling and strong identification. Systems are highly critical since Veikkaus has 2,5 million customers who use our services over a million times a week. The team operates in AWS using a vast range of different technologies and somehow complex architecture but does not except developers – even the experienced ones – to know everything. But developers are expected to enjoy developing and writing the code. Onboarding time and your role will be shaped on your strengths and experience.

We Would Love To Hear From You If You

• Are passionate about learning and teamwork
• Have 5+ years of professional experience with:
• JVM programming languages such as Java and/or Kotlin
• Spring Boot
• AWS Cloud such as EKS, ECS, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS
• Have skills and experience to efficiently use Linux and Docker
• Are familiar with agile methods and understand their value
• Have basic understanding of GDPR requirements
• Appreciate long-term development and continuous improvement
• Proficient to work with English language, Finnish is a considered as a plus

Your workplace is located at Veikkaus' headquarters in Pohjois-Haaga, Helsinki. We work flexibly in a hybrid model. To foster collaboration and effective teamwork, we meet at the office three times a week.
